Reading Plue‘s posts on the good and bad of her makeup brushes, I had a thought to do a post on my makeup brushes as well. Not so much as a review of each brush per se, but just to do an inventory of my babies 🙂
Now as you read on, you’ll notice that I don’t have expensive makeup brushes. In fact, mine are so cheap, you’d be surprised that they even work (well, most of them anyway). The only expensive makeup brush I have is the MAC #150 (paid a liver for that one too). Still, I’m happy with what I’ve got. I’m still on the hunt for cheap and good makeup brushes; I’ll let you know when I discover more.

Face and Cheek Brushes
Left to right:
- Silk Naturals fiber optic blush brush – I’ve not used this one yet though. It sheds whenever I run my fingers through the bristles.
- Everyday Minerals angled blush brush – great blush for applying blush and contouring the cheeks.
- Everyday Minerals long-handled kabuki brush – since I no longer use mineral makeup, I use this as a blush brush at times.
- Everyday Minerals Flat-Top Brush – ditto
- Everyday Minerals Mini Kabuki – too small to be used as a face brush. I just find it cute :p
- Revlon Vital Radiance Foundation Brush
- Sephora Bronzer Brush #48
- Elianto Face Brush – very soft synthetic bristles. Love it!
- MAC #150
- Lumiere Face Brush
- Lumiere Blush Brush – I find this too small to be used as a blush brush
Eye Makeup Brushes
Left to right:
- Coastal Scents tapered crease eye brush
- Coastal Scents synthetic fine liner brush
- Elianto eyeshadow brush (natural hair)
- Elianto eyeshadow brush (synthetic hair)
- Eco Tools eyeshadow brush – a cheap and great find
- Everyday Minerals concealer brush – the bristles are too limp for my liking
- Everyday Minerals eyeshadow brush (2 pieces)
- Everyday Minerals Eye kabuki brush – I don’t know why I got this, since I don’t even have deep-set eyes to begin using this with. I guess I just wanted to complete my collection of Everyday Minerals makeup brushes. This brush is too big for my eyelids.
- The Body Shop Colourings eyeshadow brush – The Colourings makeup brushes have been discontinued for a long time now. I’m so glad I got these before they did. Guess what? They’re 1 pound each (from the 1-pound sales) :p
- The Body Shop Colourings eyeshadow brush (small)
- Manicare Artiste Professional small shadow brush #30 – Manicare came up with this great range of makeup brushes at Priceline and Myer. There are a lot of different types of makeup brushes, and the display reminded me of how they display makeup brushes at Sephora. There are a lot of dupes too, like the MAC #187. I’ll sneak a picture at Priceline and show you.
- Manicare Artist Professional sponge tip shadow brush #37 – the hard tip makes it very easy to apply dark shadow as eyeliner on the upper and lower lids.
- Bloom slanted eyeliner brush
- Silk Naturals double ended synthetic eye brush – pretty convenient for traveling when you have two brushes in one.
- MUJI eyebrow brush
I forgot to add these brushes in with the picture above.
These are travel-sized brushes from Lumiere Cosmetics. These are excellent for traveling.
Lip Brushes
The black one is from Manicare Artiste Professional, and the silver from The Face Shop. The Manicare one comes with a retractable brush, whereas the one from The Face Shop comes with a cap which elongates the brush.
That’s it! I don’t use all of them at once, of course, but I like it that I have the option to. Tee hee hee.
What’s your makeup brush collection like? Go ahead and do a post about it. I’d love me some makeup brush p0rn :p
OMG!!! there are so many of them!!! i am not a hoarder of most things and certainly not brushes. if I have this many, I’d probably lose one or two… lol
nice collection and i like how clean they are.
Wow you have so many!! I’d die trying to clean them, hahaha.
wow! that’s a lot of brushes! and from EDM too!
how was your meeting with the girls? i feel like hitting myself for not being able to go 🙁
ohhh those are cool collectioN! I am into inexpensive brushes that works too 🙂
You’re a confirmed makeup brush queen and you inspire me!
Wah!! You certainly have quite a few brushes too!! 😀 I definitely need to do some serious brush shopping before i can do a post on it! hehehehe!
great collection….
is MAC #150 really worth the price?? i have #187 and #168 because i they are ‘unique’ and not many other brands can come up with great dupes.. but i heard #150 and #129 are pretty much dupable…
as for artiste brush,, try their round crease brush or round smudge brush… AMAZING!! it looks really really similar to the famous MAC #219….
*Gulp* That’s ALOTTA brush! LOL.
Nice collection Tine! And absolutely glad we’ve finally met. =)
ooohh so many brushes! my collection of 4 brushes shall bow down to yours XD
Like WOAHHHHHH! you really do have a lot of makeup brushes… i shld show mum yours, then she’ll stop nagging at me. haha..
i wish we have elianto here too… their products seem good!!
Great brush collection you have there! I wanna get the EDM baby kabuki for blush. I think it should work well. The eye kabuki does look very big! now that I can see the comparison with the tapered crease brush. I need to get my hands on some ecotools.
O_O!!! Queen of brushes omg!
Oh Tine, you’ve definitely inspired me to venture out of my comfort (read: MAC) zone to try out brushes by different companies! Thanks for sharing, gal. 🙂
Wow that’s a lot if brushes! I only have a few haha. My next purchase I’m looking out for is an angled eyebrow one… just no idea where to find it!
Hi..can u help me..im looking for natural hair makeup brushes..where can i get in malaysia?
anyway, for the EDM eye kabuki, a lot of gals are using it for undereye concealer application (if it’s powder). Hope you can find a use for it!
I have used great lash for about 28 years and for about the last year I have found that every time I buy a new tube of it ,it is like there is no mascara in the tube and the brush sucks.I haven’t even thought about using another product until now but I am leaving this product behind and if I have to ,go,”WITHOUT”.I feel like I am being cheated every time I buy it now. From the first use of a new tube it is like there isn’t anything in it.What is going on with it?”I am highly sensitive to everything and I don’t know what to use. Please send some suggestions, because I am going to leave this product on the shelf from now on.I don’t have the time to keep working with this stuff trying to apply this crap.
Wow that’s a lots of brushes! I love reading your blog and reviews especially,
didn’t know you’re Malaysian til the December trip back post,
I’m from there too now in QLD. 🙂 Gong Hei Fatt Choy!
