Poll: Do You Use Night Creams?

Night CreamGosh, I haven’t done a poll in ages! It always seemed as though there were always more pressing matters and reviews to talk about, that I’ve forgotten something I love doing. Anyhoos, it’s finally back, and I hope it’s going to make a more regular appearance.

Today’s question is – do you use night creams?

I’d be honest with you, I only started using night creams regularly a year ago. Malaysia is too hot and humid for me to slather rich creams on. And when I did, my skin would get angry break outs on my oily T-zone. I tried using Olay’s Regenerist Night Cream once. Big mistake. It was far too rich for my skin. Every morning, my face would resemble an oil slick, and I’d get pimples on my forehead. It was not a pretty sight, I tell you.

It was only after I started using Clinique’s Moisture Surge that my skin calmed down. It’s light, oil-free formula gave my skin the hydration it needed, and continued to work its magic overnight. I’d wake up with a mostly oil-free face (I still get the odd oilies between my eyebrows). Using that as a night cream has helped to improve the texture of my skin whilst keeping it supple. It’s also a plus now that I’m living in Australia, where humidity is low.

So what’s your story? Do you use night creams? If so, which ones do you use? Have night creams ever given you problems?

The poll will close at the end of the month.

I’m in love with Clinique’s moisture surge as well…Boot’s Vitamin C night cream is also great. 🙂

And yes, I filled the poll…teehee..

I’ve just started using Clinique. Not moisture surge…just the normal yellow one and it’s great! Filled your poll…I’ve always been a night cream person..since I’m such a skincare addict! hehe

ohh I just started using night cream when I saw my face starting to peel off due to dryness! And im using the CLinique’s Moisture surge as well and my skin texture improved! and no more dryness!!! Love this poll!

I’m using a prescription tretinoin alternatively with a glycolic acid cream at night. Would that be considered as a night cream?

I don’t really use night cream, so I voted no. I mean, it’s Malaysia and I’ve got oily skin. It would be amounting to skin-suicide. Hehe..

However, I use my beloved Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel, and it’s awesome. =)

I use Fresh Repair and Restore. I have normal to dry skin and need the extra moisture. I’m in San Diego, so not too much humidity here. I love Fresh’s skincare. Sometimes I use just the night serum Mamaku. I also like Armani but a bit expensive. Fresh is expensive enough.

I’m glad there’s another fan of the Moisture Surge. I seldom hear bad reviews about it, because it’s simply soothing to the skin. Oh yeah, the Boots Vit C night cream was the one you bought in Bangkok, right? Does The Body Shop have one too in their Vit C skincare line?

    Indulgent Diva:
The yellow moisturiser’s the popular one. It’s a pity this does not work for all. There’s been a lot of mixed reviews about this. It’s my HG of moisturisers though 🙂

Mind if I ask how old you are? If you’re in your teens, then you don’t have to use night creams. It would be far too rich for your skin. It’s good to start in your early twenties. I’d definitely recommend you start using one if you’re over 25. Especially so if you sleep in an air-conditioned room. The dry air can dehydrate your skin.

Since I just started, I wouldn’t say I can’t live without it. But I’m slowly getting my routine right 🙂

    Askmewhats:
Yay another fan. Glad it worked out for you 🙂

I’m afraid I can’t answer your question there because I’m not familiar with the ingredients. But I’ll get back to you on this once I do a bit of research.

    Syen:
That’s true, but if you sleep in an air-conditioned room, I’d still suggest you do, but maybe something light. Whee, another yellow gel fan :p

    Katia Polster:
Oh hey I’ve seen Fresh here, but haven’t tried it out yet. Thanks for the heads up. Yeah night creams are expensive. I’m saving up to try La Mer 🙂

but sadly my skin is still not moisture enough, i use moisture surge during the day too, and when i went to the clarins counter the woman also commented that it is still dry. however, when i wake up in the morning i find my skin very supple but as the day goes on at work, till night, usually my skin feels really dry. sigh. how? i do drink plenty of water and i eat a lot of fruits. maybe i should learn to sleep without the air con but aircon at work place is just unavoidable

Perhaps you can try a facial mist during the day at work? I read an interesting article by Viva Woman on this. Something about preventing water loss. You might want to check it out 🙂

I am voting no. I use a cream at night but I do not use a dedicated night cream because the one I’m using now is sufficient for me. 🙂 I’ve never had good luck with Clinique – everything breaks me out and La Mer was nice for a spell and then killed my skin totally. Eeks! Happy Weekend!

OMG, Paris, La Mer killed your skin? I’m so sorry to hear that! I’m such a La Mer devotee, but of course, it doesn’t work for everyone. Um, I voted yes but I don’t exactly use a specific Night Cream. I just happen to use lotion in the day and cream (NEED CREAM!) at night because I HATE how dry my skin is. I use La Mer on my problem area and scars then I use Origin’s A Perfect World Moisturizer everywhere else.
