Ladies, since this is a women’s blog, and I’m assuming that most, if not all, of my readers are ladies, I shan’t be shameful nor think it’s too much information to divulge this – today would be the very first time, in the 17 years after I became a lady, that I managed to use a tampon SUCCESSFULLY.
God, this is embarrassing.
Look, it’s not that I haven’t tried before. I remembered asking Mum for tampons when I was 12 years old, and she whispered to me.
“Girl, I only started using them after I got married”.
“Huh??”
“You’ll know what I mean when you grow up.”
Err okay. Anyways, I tried it years back with Tampax, and it didn’t work. The ones with the applicator thingies? Useless little buggers. They just wouldn’t go IN.
I got so frustrated, wasted a pack, and went back to my usual ultra-thins.
I found Moxie at Priceline today, and thought I’d give it go just one more time. And if it doesn’t work, oh well, at least I can keep the pretty tins.
So cute, right? You wouldn’t even know there are tampons inside.
So yeah, today is marked as a day in history, that Tine finally got her tampon in 😛
PS: I hope I didn’t gross you ladies out with this entry. If I have, erm, aren’t you a girl too? :p
PPS: For those who use tampons, err, is it supposed to be uncomfortable when sitting?
It was at first but once you are used to it, you won’t feel anything at all.
I remembered once looking for the string and I couldn’t find it. It scared the hell out of me cos I thought it has detached or something. Then I realised that I wasn’t using any. Haha! Now, I can’t imagine life without it.
Hey I never use a tampon either. Im tempted to but uuuhhh………. like you know what your mom say why you cant use it back in the day?…….Yeah that’s my reason.
I am a good Muslim girl….ok lah. Semi good. I curse like a sailor =p
i have always always wanted to try one, but sked tht i can’t get it in. is it REALLY hard?
i was 15 when i first tried switching to tampons and it took me awhile to get used to. there was this one horrifying moment when i didn’t insert it properly and it popped out while i was walking. o_O but like twiistii, i can’t imagine life without it!
wow congrats…I don’t even plan to use it, as i’ve never used it…:( so can’ really help you out on your question…but I do know based on reading that it’s NOT supposed to be uncomfortable…thanks for this really brave post 🙂
well yea i thk u probably didn’t put it in right.somehow. Hmm…well it’s actually quite a myth that u can’t insert it in “b4 u r married”.for one thg, using tampon does not = sex.lol! but yea i hv heard ppl hving difficulty using it prior to that but not all…depends on ur luck for various reasons.lol! i def didn’t hv any trouble at all
i just started using tampons a couple of years back, when i was travelling and didn’t have any pads on hand. LOL.. it was good, convenient (i was using tampax pearl) but somehow i stopped using it as my flow has gotten lighter.. and it hurts to even put it in.. *oops*
but anyway, congrats!!! hahaha…
Err…I nearly fainted in pain the first time I tried inserting mine (high school prom emergency…nightmare!!!). I wasted nearly a box of the o.b. ones in the course of a year before finally getting the hang of it (I was a very persistent young lady) 😀 But I still don’t use them because they leak!! 🙁 Maybe I’m using them the wrong way?
teehee… Never tried and never felt the urge to try it. I got scared off by toxic shock
If you can feel it, maybe you didn’t insert it enough. If it leaks, maybe its you are using the one not meant for your type of flow. If you are worried of it leaking, you can use a pantiliner. When you start seeing spotting on it means its time to change.
And TSS is very rare. I think its about 1% of the population.
Twiistii:
Oh my goodness! I think I’d be worried if I lost the string. Or that it went “in” instead. Scary :p
Constant Drama:
Hehe, I know what you mean. If you haven’t tried it, then you won’t miss it. I didn’t put it in the right way that day, and it hurt when I was out at dinner all evening. It’s like constant, non-stop, you know, “doing it”. And that hurts. What a relief it was when I took it out.
Prettybeautiful:
It isn’t hard at all actually. Still, I think I didn’t put it in deep enough, and it hurt when I was sitting down. It’s just like putting contact lenses on; it’s uncomfortable like hell when you put it in for the very first time, but after a while, you don’t even feel it’s there. Just follow the instructions carefully. Your position when putting on a tampon is important. And breathe out when putting it in. You’ll relax better, and it’ll slide in effortlessly 🙂
Cheeeezie:
OMG, serious? It popped out?! That is freaky indeed! During my next period, I better make sure it’s jammed all the way in then :p
Askmewhats:
It’s a girly blog after all, so what better place to talk about girly stuff like your periods and tampons? 😉
Shelly:
Hahahaha, I know! A lot of people thought it’d break your hymen or something with a tampon. You can actually break it when horse riding, doing gymnastics, etc. It doesn’t mean you’re not a virgin just because you broke it during exercise. And with a tampon? Nah :p
Daphne:
Great idea! I’m going to pack some in my travel bag, it would definitely be more handy :p
The Faux Fashionista:
Ouch! Still, it’s an experience you won’t forget 😉 I heard that they leak because you aren’t using one of a higher absorbency. Or it isn’t “in” enough. Mine leaked too for the first time.
Paris:
Hahahaha, speaking of TSS, I kept reminding Tim to check me out if I feel faint, if I don’t look good on my face, if I was getting sick, etc, just in case I get TSS. He was like, “aiyo, so difficult, don’t use lah!” :p
Anonymous:
Yeah I did actually. And thank goodness for the panty liner, because it did leak. Hmm I should have changed back then. Oopsie :p
I’ve been using a tampon for about two years and its totally convinient. I dont really like wearing pads because its uncomfortable and I feel sticky and wet down there. Urgh!
The thing about the leaking is probably because you didn’t use the proper one. Like there is mini and maxi pads, there’s also different types of tampons. If your flow is heavy, change more often.
And it shouldnt hurt. it shouldn’t feel as if you have anything inside. Nor should it pop out. Maybe it wasn’t deep enough.
